GRJSA Race Team Information

While membership on Race Team is by invitation only, you are encouraged to inquire if your child feels they are ready to race.

Race Team sign-up will be held late spring, but please reach out to grjuniorsail@gmail.com to let us know if your child is interested.

*Chartering of boats and trailers may be available through GRJSA upon request

Race Team Prerequisites:

• Show proficiency as a skipper on a Butterfly, Opti, Laser, or 420.
• Be capable of navigating a race course independently as a skipper from starting sequence to finish line and have participated in GRYC sponsored fleet races (or at another club) for at least one year. (Crew may be aboard)
• Have parents who are available for regatta duties (boat pack up, chaperons, driving, food)
• Own your own boat
• Be a member of the GRYC

Weekly Practice:

Practices Mondays and Wednesdays 1:00-4:00 PM mid June thru mid-August.

8/3-8/6 – Westerns @ Crystal Lake Yacht Club

9/3-9/5 – Labor Day Regatta @ Grand Rapids Yacht Club
