It was hot and windy for the first few days, and then the rain and light winds forced a cancellation of races on Friday. Congrats to all skippers and crew for their fine sportsmanship, courage, and sailing.

Butterfly Nationals – July 20-22

GRYC is partnering with Sebago and many other sponsors to bring the 2011 Butterfly Nationals to GRYC, July 20-22. Volunteers are needed to make the event a success. Signup for volunteers is located in the clubhouse. Signup information for the regatta can be found on the GRYC web page, just use the sailing school link.

A club work party is scheduled for Monday July 18th. The club will provide hot dogs, bring a dish to pass and a pair of helping hands. Tasks to be completed that night will be posted on the window of the clubhouse. No hand is too big or small to help out.

Sailors from across the State, Midwest Region, and the entire nation will compete for a number of national trophies over the course of the three days on Reeds Lake. Racing teams include local sailors and boats from yacht clubs at Torch Lake, Grand Traverse, Muskegon, Spring Lake, as well as from Colorado, Wisconsin and Texas.

If you have questions please contact Danielle Ralston at 485-0872 or e-mail at ralstond@grps.k12.mi.us.
