Boat Parts Garage Sale

We are looking for used boat parts or any nautical items to be donated items and sold at our sale that will be used to raise funds for GRJSA.

What:
Items to donate or consign would include (in good salable condition): Boats, life jackets & PFD’s, sails, boat equipment, lines, ropes, antique boat items, sailing clothing, foul weather gear, sailing shoes, boat parts, water skis, trailers.

Drop Off Goods:
Friday, June 14 from 4-7pm
Saturday, June 15 from 8-10am

Sale:
Saturday June 15 from 9-3pm **Open to the Public**

Where:
GRYC – Garage
740 Lakeside Dr SE Grand Rapids, MI 49506

Please ask friends and neighbors if they have any items that they would like to donate to the sale. The GRJSA is raising funds to purchase new boats for their sailing program.

Any unsold consigned items need to be picked up by 6pm on Saturday. All donated items will be property of GRJSA.

Summer 2013 Registration is Now Open

Contact the East Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department to register. Online registration is not available for Sailing School.

Note a few corrections from the Summer Parks and Recreation Brochure:

  • Session B Week 1 meets Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday due to the 4th of July Holiday (not Thursday as mentioned in the Brochure).
  • Opti-Expedition 1 is for Ages 5-9, not Ages 5-7.

Fundraiser: Anything Goes at Devos Hall

Spring is right around the corner, and the Sailing School is kicking off its season with a “de-lovely” fundraiser. We’re sponsoring an evening on the town, starting with a cocktail party at the JW Marriott and a performance of the national Broadway tour of ANYTHING GOES at DeVos Performance Hall.

Butterfly Nationals 2012

Butterfly Nationals July 17-19

Start planning now to head north for the 2012 Butterfly Nationals.  This year’s regatta will be hosted by Crystal Lake Yacht Club on Crystal Lake in Frankfort, Michigan.  Experience Pure Michigan sailing at its’ best.  Crystal Lake is one of the most desirable sailing lakes in Northern Michigan.  Crystal clear water combined with excellent wind conditions promises to make this the perfect setting for a great event.  Great lakes.  Great times.  More to see.

John Rousmaniere, Renowned Sailor/Writer

Grand River Sailing Club in Grand Haven is bringing in John Rousmaniere, an accomplished sailor and author to do his Suddenly Alone workshop on Saturday, April 14 at the Spring Lake Holiday Inn.  Rousmaniere participated on the official inquiry panel for the 2011 Chicago-Mackinac Race tragedy and will address the findings of their investigation. There is a special rate for sailors 18 and under.  Before April 9, youth tickets are just $10.
